Hi! I'm a Californian eventer who has been riding since I was 9. I've been riding with two wonderful trainers and somehow made it through Training level with their intervention. Once upon a time I had Prelim aspirations, but after a handful of years off during my undergrad stint at UCSB, I decided to purchase a 3yo OTTB to bring up the levels from scratch. Enter Spartan, problem-child extraordinaire:
Instead, what ensued was a year of injury, lameness, illness, xrays, ultrasounds, vets vets vets, and a big, fat mini vacay for Spartacles Pony. Most recently, he's been treated for a fetlock fracture with 3 months of stall rest, but FINALLY (*knockonwood*) pony is seeming sound, and it's time to bring him back into work! I'm not sure what the future will bring, but Spartan has taught me infinite patience, and we will take things one day at a time.
Oh, and we are moving to Virginia in August so I can start law school at UVA! Can you just envision those green pastures?! Wish us luck--and, in the meanwhile, enjoy this video from my first day with Spartan :)
